Nancy O'Dell's first job in the broadcast industry was as a reporter/anchor at WPDE-TV Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Later, she worked at WCBD as a morning anchor and crime reporter. The journalist's report on the lack of responses of police officers in response to DUI instances in Charleston resulted in an investigation conducted by the State Law Enforcement Division, which led to a change in directive from state authorities regarding DUI cases. It was reported that the Associated Press honored Ms. O'Dell by awarding her the Best Report of the Years Award across all South Carolina Media. O'Dell's work in Charleston was the reason she joined as a co-anchor, reporter as well as NBC's Miami WTVJ-TV. Prior to she joined Access Hollywood she was a weekday co-anchor as well as the NBC weekend co-anchor. Additionally, she is co-anchor for Dateline NBC and NBC News Today. The anchor has hosted a number of pre-show arrivals to The Emmys as well as The Golden Globe Awards. She also co-hosted the Miss USA pageant and the Miss Universe pageant.
